A ghost ship washed ashore in Japan, and clues point to North Korean defectors

This battered wooden boat containing eight bodies was found on a beach in Oga, part of Japans Akita prefecture. Dozens of North Korean fishing vessels wash up on Japans coast every year. Sometimes the occupants have died at sea, a phenomenon local media refer to as “ghost ships.” (Jiji Press/AFP/Getty Images)
